FX is moving forward with the drama series, The Americans starring Keri Russell Matthew Rhys and Noah Emmerich. As previously reported, The Americans is a period drama about the marriage of two KGB spies posing as Americans in suburban Washington DC soon after Ronald Reagan becomes the POTUS. The arranged marriage between Phillip (Rhys) and Elizabeth Jennings (Russell) grows more passionate each day but gets complicated by the Cold War and Phillip’s growing affinity for American values and lifestyle. Tensions increase further when a new neighbor moves in, Stan (Emmerich), an FBI agent working in counter intelligence. FX ordered 13 episodes of The Americans with production beginning in October with an early 2013 launch planned. The series is created by Joe Weisberg who is executive producer/showrunner along with executive producer Graham Yost. Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey of DreamWorks Television are also on board as executive producers. The Americans is co-produced by Fox Television Studios and FX Productions.

Former queens who appeared on Logo’s competition series RuPaul’s Drag Race seasons 1-4 will comprise the cast for the network’s newest series, RuPaul’s All Stars Drag Race, premiering October 22 at 9p. The new series will have six, one-hour episodes and the opening episode contains 10 bonus minutes. Directly following RuPaul’s All Stars Drag Race, the companion series, Untucked: All Stars is back for a new season and will air each week. Regular judges include RuPaul, Michelle Visage and Santino Rice and guest judges for the new edition include: Rosie Perez, Ross Matthews, Rachel Hunter, Vickie Lawrence, Busy Phillips, Rachel Dratch, Janice Dickinson, Wendy McClendon-Covey, Elvira, Beth Ditto and Cheri Oteri. RuPaul’s All Stars Drag Race and Untucked: All Stars are produced by World of Wonder Productions.

The first season finale of Dallas on TNT attracted 4.3 million total viewers based on Live + Same Day data on Wednesday. The season closer also drew 1.6 million A18-49 viewers and 1.9 million A25-54 viewers. Over the entire first season, Dallas averaged 4.5 million total viewers in Live + Same Day delivery along with 1.4 million A18-49 and 1.8 million with A25-54. During Wednesday’s finale, TNT also revealed the second season of Dallas will return in January.

Arsenio Hall’s new late-night syndicated talk show, Arsenio Hall has been sold by CBS Television Distribution in more than 85% of the US. Arsenio Hall will debut in fall 2013 and Tribune Broadcasting is partnering with the production of the show as well as airing the show on its 17 stations including covering the top three markets. The strip has been sold now in all of the top 50 markets. In addition to Tribune, Arsenio Hall was picked up by CBS Television and Local TV, the other two station groups that initially picked up the show along with Tribune. Other station groups coming on board with Arsenio Hall include Sinclair Broadcasting, LIN Television Stations, Belo Corp., Cox Enterprises, Media General, Post-Newsweek Stations, Newport Television, Raycom Media and The Grant Group. CBS Television Distribution is producing the show in association with Arsenio Hall Communications Ltd. and Octagon Entertainment Productions.

Daniel Sunjata was cast in a recurring role as Debra Messing’s new love interest on NBC’s Smash. Sunjata has recently appeared in the summer blockbuster Dark Knight Rises and before that was a regular on FX’s Rescue Me and did a multiple ep run on ABC Grey’s Anatomy. NBC will debut the second of Smash in midseason.

Perry Ferrell, the Jane’s Addiction frontman is soliciting the broadcast networks to pick up his television music show project, reports EW. The series premise would have professional musicians offer live performances with no judges and no eliminations. Ferrell is also the founder of Lollapalooza.
