A new culinary show on Cooking Channel travels to US cities in search of global cuisine when Eden Eats premieres August 17 at 10p. World traveler and foodie, Eden Grinshpan stars in the eight-episode series where she visits a different city each week in search of original recipes of immigrants and locals and to learn stories of their cultures through food. Eden Eats is produced by Noise Productions Inc.

Sunday’s season five premiere of AMC’s Breaking Bad has become the most-watched episode in the history of the series. At 10p, the opening episode delivered 2.9 million total viewers as well as 1.8 million among A25-54. For the night, the premiere episode tallied 3.5 million total viewers adding together the 10p episode with the 1130p encore airing. AMC had previously announced Breaking Bad will have 16 final episodes to end the series. Breaking Bad will continue with all-new episodes on AMC Sundays at 10p. Breaking Bad is produced by High Bridge Productions, Inc. and Gran Via Productions in association with Sony Pictures Television for AMC.

Readying for its 10th season based from Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, The Ellen DeGeneres Show returns in national syndication on September 10 (check syndicated/local listings). The show starring Ellen DeGeneres, is launching a new summer and fall branding campaign this week featuring celebrities and former Presidents relating why they love to be on the show. Stars in the promos include Jennifer Aniston, Justin Timberlake, Cameron Diaz, Justin Bieber and President Clinton. The daily talk show is produced by A Very Good Production and WAD Productions, Inc. in association with Telepictures and is distributed by Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution.

Former All My Children cast member Mark Consuelos (and also real-life husband to Kelly Ripa) is joining the second season of FX’s American Horror Story which commenced production this week. Consuelos will play a patient at the asylum for the criminally insane named Spivey. He joins previously announced cast members Jessica Lange, James Cromwell, Joseph Fiennes, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, Zachary Quinto, Adam Levine, Chloe Sevigny and Lizzie Brochere.

As the carriage dispute between Viacom and DirecTV continued through a sixth day, DirecTV gave its subscribers access to several channels that are typically available in high-level packages, reports Multichannel News. DirecTV added PBS Kids Sprout, Discovery Communications’ The Hub, TV One and Madison Square Garden’s Fuse for all its 19.9 million US subscribers. DirecTV is also offering Starz Entertainment’s eight Encore networks at no charge to subscribers through July 31 along with a freeview of MLB Extra Innings and MLB Network Strike Zone through July 19. At midnight on July 10, DirecTV subscribers lost their access to 17 Viacom networks and their hi-def counterparts. The two entities are currently in negotiations and according to DirecTV, the two parties made headway in discussions on Sunday.
