Before its Upfront presentation next week, FOX handed out several cancelations to first season series Alcatraz and the Bones spinoff series The Finder, also in its first season. Alcatraz is from J.J. Abrams and stars Sarah Jones and Jorge Garcia and The Finder is from Hart Hanson and stars Geoff Stults. FOX further has canceled Breaking In from Sony Pictures Television for the second time and officially has canceled the sitcom I Hate My Teenage Daughter starring Jamie Pressly and Katie Finneran. On its renewal list, FOX is continuing with Touch, starring Kiefer Sutherland, American Dad, Bones, The Cleveland Show, Fringe, Glee, Kitchen Nightmares, New Girl, Raising Hope and The Simpsons.

NBC ordered two new dramas prior to its Upfront event. Both dramas are produced by Universal Television and they include Infamous (formerly titled Notorious during development season), a soap about a female detective who goes undercover with the wealthy family she grew up in as the maid’s daughter to solve the murder of the heiress who was once her close friend. BermanBraun produces Infamous with Universal Television. From Peter Traugott Productions and Universal is the drama Do No Harm, a modern-day take on the Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde story about a renowned neurosurgeon that has a destructive alter ego. NBC additionally has picked up Parenthood for another season and 30 Rock is returning for its final 13-episode season.

The Courteney Cox-starring sitcom Cougar Town is switching from ABC to TBS where the cable network has ordered a fourth season with new episodes set to premiere in early 2013. TBS also has secured the encore rights to Cougar Town’s first three seasons comprising of 61 episodes that have aired on ABC. Cougar Town is produced by ABC Studios.

Over-the-air broadcast television network, Bounce TV targeting African Americans will launch its second new original comedy series, Uptown Comic on June 18 directly after the series premiere of the network’s previously-announced sitcom Family Time. Uptown Comic is a half-hour series highlighting stage and skit performances by up-and-coming comics from around the country. Production is currently underway on Uptown Comic which is being filmed in front of a live studio audience at the African American comedy club, Uptown Comedy Corner in Atlanta. Actor/comedian Joe Torry is hosting the series. On June 18, Family Time, the new half-hour situation comedy will debut first at 8p followed by the series launch of Uptown Comic at 830p. Rainforest Films is producing Uptown Comic, the same producers behind the current theatrical film Think Like a Man.

As a follow up to A+E Networks Upfront presentation Wednesday evening, A&E Network is readying the new medical thriller miniseries Coma which will premiere later this summer or by early September. Coma is a four-hour miniseries starring Richard Dreyfuss, Ellen Burstyn, James Woods, Geena Davis, Lauren Ambrose and Steven Pasquale and is a modern-day retelling of the novel by Robin Cook and the film by Michael Crichton. A&E Network will air Coma over two nights. The miniseries is executive produced by Ridley and Tony Scott, David W. Zucker, Martin Erlichman and Mikail Salomon (Band of Brothers) who is also directing. Sony Pictures Television is producing Coma for A&E Network.

Throughout the summer, Logo serves up a new four-part series, Scandalicious that focuses on recent headlines involving celebrities and sprinkled with comedic perspective from Alec Mapa and Debra Wilson. The series opens May 25 at 8p with Scandalicious: 20 Shocking Celebrity Rants followed by Scandalicious: 20 Extreme Celebrity Feuds on June 1 at 8p; then Scandalicious: 20 Juiciest Celebrity Scandals of Passion in July (date TBD) and Scandalicious: Sexiest Nearly Naked Celebs in August (date TBD). NBC continued to be active in the arena of picking up new series yesterday. The network approved a second new series from producer Dick Wolf, the one-hour drama Chicago Fire about the men and women working for the Chicago Fire Department. Wolf’s longtime series, Law & Order: SVU also received a 14th season pickup for next season. Furthermore, NBC gave a 13-episode series nod to multi-camera comedy Guys With Kids from executive producer Jimmy Fallon. This comedy is about three 30-something guys played by Jesse Bradford, Zach Cregger and Anthony Anderson who enjoy being parents though they haven’t grown up themselves. Universal Television and Holiday Road are producing.

The celebrity cast of FOX’s upcoming dating show The Choice was revealed yesterday. The Choice will watch as a cadre of famous bachelors and bachelorettes audition attractive non-famous singles while sitting in spinning chairs. Five of the episodes will feature male celebrities while one episode will highlight female celebrities. The male celebrities include Pauly D, Tyson Beckford, Joe Jonas, Dean Cain, Rob Kardashian, Rocco DiSpirito, Warren Sapp, Finesse Mitchell, Romeo, Jeremy Bloom, Jason Cook, Michael Catherwood, Seth Wescott, Parker Young, Ndamukong Suh, Dr. Robert Nettles, Taylor Hicks, Mike Sorrentino, Rob Gronkowski and Steven Lopez while the female celebrities are Carmen Electra, Hope Dworaczyk, Rima Fakih and Sophie Monk. AMC handed season two renewals to its unscripted series Comic Book Men and Talking Dead. Executive producer Kevin Smith (Clerks, Chasing Amy), Charlie Corwin’s Original Media and Elyse Seiden are behind Comic Book Men set in and about Smith’s New Jersey comic shop, Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash. Talking Dead is AMC’s live after show that serves as a discussion platform for its series, The Walking Dead. Talking Dead is executive produced by Michael Davies and co-executive produced by Jen Kelly from Embassy Row. Chris Hardwick is the host. AMC gave both series 16 half-hour episodes.

Even before the season two finale aired, VH1 handed reality series Mob Wives a third season order slated to bow in early 2013. The season two finale of Mob Wives airs on VH1 May 13 at 8p. On the following two Sundays, The View’s Joy Behar will host the two-part reunion special on May 20 and 27 which is expected to reveal more drama and emotions beyond the 17-episode season. This summer, BBC America is focused across the pond on London with a slew of programming ready to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in June through the London Olympics in August. BBC America’s Summer of London kicks off May 26 at 6a with a marathon of the complete series of The Tudors before the series returns to his regular Wednesday night at 9p timeslot on June 6. Other programming highlights of BBC America’s Summer of London includes full-day live coverage on June 3 of the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant for Her Majesty The Queen beginning at 9a to the US premiere at 8p on June 3 of the documentary The Diamond Queen.
