Before its Upfront presentation next week, FOX handed out several cancelations to first season series Alcatraz and the Bones spinoff series The Finder, also in its first season. Alcatraz is from J.J. Abrams and stars Sarah Jones and Jorge Garcia and The Finder is from Hart Hanson and stars Geoff Stults. FOX further has canceled Breaking In from Sony Pictures Television for the second time and officially has canceled the sitcom I Hate My Teenage Daughter starring Jamie Pressly and Katie Finneran. On its renewal list, FOX is continuing with Touch, starring Kiefer Sutherland, American Dad, Bones, The Cleveland Show, Fringe, Glee, Kitchen Nightmares, New Girl, Raising Hope and The Simpsons.

NBC ordered two new dramas prior to its Upfront event. Both dramas are produced by Universal Television and they include Infamous (formerly titled Notorious during development season), a soap about a female detective who goes undercover with the wealthy family she grew up in as the maid’s daughter to solve the murder of the heiress who was once her close friend. BermanBraun produces Infamous with Universal Television. From Peter Traugott Productions and Universal is the drama Do No Harm, a modern-day take on the Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde story about a renowned neurosurgeon that has a destructive alter ego. NBC additionally has picked up Parenthood for another season and 30 Rock is returning for its final 13-episode season.

The Courteney Cox-starring sitcom Cougar Town is switching from ABC to TBS where the cable network has ordered a fourth season with new episodes set to premiere in early 2013. TBS also has secured the encore rights to Cougar Town’s first three seasons comprising of 61 episodes that have aired on ABC. Cougar Town is produced by ABC Studios.

Over-the-air broadcast television network, Bounce TV targeting African Americans will launch its second new original comedy series, Uptown Comic on June 18 directly after the series premiere of the network’s previously-announced sitcom Family Time. Uptown Comic is a half-hour series highlighting stage and skit performances by up-and-coming comics from around the country. Production is currently underway on Uptown Comic which is being filmed in front of a live studio audience at the African American comedy club, Uptown Comedy Corner in Atlanta. Actor/comedian Joe Torry is hosting the series. On June 18, Family Time, the new half-hour situation comedy will debut first at 8p followed by the series launch of Uptown Comic at 830p. Rainforest Films is producing Uptown Comic, the same producers behind the current theatrical film Think Like a Man.

As a follow up to A+E Networks Upfront presentation Wednesday evening, A&E Network is readying the new medical thriller miniseries Coma which will premiere later this summer or by early September. Coma is a four-hour miniseries starring Richard Dreyfuss, Ellen Burstyn, James Woods, Geena Davis, Lauren Ambrose and Steven Pasquale and is a modern-day retelling of the novel by Robin Cook and the film by Michael Crichton. A&E Network will air Coma over two nights. The miniseries is executive produced by Ridley and Tony Scott, David W. Zucker, Martin Erlichman and Mikail Salomon (Band of Brothers) who is also directing. Sony Pictures Television is producing Coma for A&E Network.

Throughout the summer, Logo serves up a new four-part series, Scandalicious that focuses on recent headlines involving celebrities and sprinkled with comedic perspective from Alec Mapa and Debra Wilson. The series opens May 25 at 8p with Scandalicious: 20 Shocking Celebrity Rants followed by Scandalicious: 20 Extreme Celebrity Feuds on June 1 at 8p; then Scandalicious: 20 Juiciest Celebrity Scandals of Passion in July (date TBD) and Scandalicious: Sexiest Nearly Naked Celebs in August (date TBD). The series is produced by Comcast Entertainment Studios.

British actor/comedian Russell Brand is hosting the upcoming MTV Movie Awards airing live on MTV June 3 at 9p from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, CA. This is Brand’s first hosting gig for the MTV Movie Awards though he emceed the Video Music Awards on MTV in 2008 and 2009.

The stars of ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy including Ellen Pompeo,Patrick Dempsey, Sandra Oh, Justin Chambers, James Pickens, Jr. and Chandra Wilson have all signed new two-year deals to continue with the medical drama from Shonda Rhimes. ABC has not yet ordered a ninth season of Grey’s Anatomy though will reveal its 2012-2013 primetime schedule at its Upfront presentation next Tuesday.
