NBC continued to be active in the arena of picking up new series yesterday. The network approved a second new series from producer Dick Wolf, the one-hour drama Chicago Fire about the men and women working for the Chicago Fire Department. Wolf’s longtime series, Law & Order: SVU also received a 14th season pickup for next season. Furthermore, NBC gave a 13-episode series nod to multi-camera comedy Guys With Kids from executive producer Jimmy Fallon. This comedy is about three 30-something guys played by Jesse Bradford, Zach Cregger and Anthony Anderson who enjoy being parents though they haven’t grown up themselves. Universal Television and Holiday Road are producing.

The celebrity cast of FOX’s upcoming dating show The Choice was revealed yesterday. The Choice will watch as a cadre of famous bachelors and bachelorettes audition attractive non-famous singles while sitting in spinning chairs. Five of the episodes will feature male celebrities while one episode will highlight female celebrities. The male celebrities include Pauly D, Tyson Beckford, Joe Jonas, Dean Cain, Rob Kardashian, Rocco DiSpirito, Warren Sapp, Finesse Mitchell, Romeo, Jeremy Bloom, Jason Cook, Michael Catherwood, Seth Wescott, Parker Young, Ndamukong Suh, Dr. Robert Nettles, Taylor Hicks, Mike Sorrentino, Rob Gronkowski and Steven Lopez while the female celebrities are Carmen Electra, Hope Dworaczyk, Rima Fakih and Sophie Monk. The Choice is hosted by Cat Deeley and premieres on June 7, paired with FOX’s other new dating series Take Me Out.

AMC handed season two renewals to its unscripted series Comic Book Men and Talking Dead. Executive producer Kevin Smith (Clerks, Chasing Amy), Charlie Corwin’s Original Media and Elyse Seiden are behind Comic Book Men set in and about Smith’s New Jersey comic shop, Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash. Talking Dead is AMC’s live after show that serves as a discussion platform for its series, The Walking Dead. Talking Dead is executive produced by Michael Davies and co-executive produced by Jen Kelly from Embassy Row. Chris Hardwick is the host. AMC gave both series 16 half-hour episodes.

Even before the season two finale aired, VH1 handed reality series Mob Wives a third season order slated to bow in early 2013. The season two finale of Mob Wives airs on VH1 May 13 at 8p. On the following two Sundays, The View’s Joy Behar will host the two-part reunion special on May 20 and 27 which is expected to reveal more drama and emotions beyond the 17-episode season. Jennifer Graziano of JustJenn Productions developed the series produced by The Weinstein Company, Electus and Left/Right; Electus International handles the international distribution efforts.

A few weeks before its season one conclusion, WE tv approved a second season renewal for its original series Mary Mary featuring sisters Erica and Tina Campbell who comprise the Gospel duo Mary Mary. Production on the second season begins this month and the ten new one-hour episodes will debut in early 2013. The season one finale of Mary Mary airs on May 31 at 9p. eOne Television produces the series for WE tv.

This summer, BBC America is focused across the pond on London with a slew of programming ready to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in June through the London Olympics in August. BBC America’s Summer of London kicks off May 26 at 6a with a marathon of the complete series of The Tudors before the series returns to his regular Wednesday night at 9p timeslot on June 6. Other programming highlights of BBC America’s Summer of London includes full-day live coverage on June 3 of the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant for Her Majesty The Queen beginning at 9a to the US premiere at 8p on June 3 of the documentary The Diamond Queen. Later in June, BBC America will continue its British programming with world premiere specials including the three-part The Brit List and specials honoring the Beatles and Sir Paul McCartney’s 70th birthday on June 18. To honor the London Olympics, BBC America will premiere the series Twenty Twelve with 13 half-hour episodes as part of the network’s Ministry of Laughs on June 28 at Midnight. Also this summer, BBC America will premiere the third and final new Absolutely Fabulous special.
