NBC was active yesterday by picking up three pilots to series. The network ordered 13 episodes of the single-camera comedy Save Me starring Anne Heche. NBC further gave series orders to the single-camera comedy The New Normal from Ryan Murphy and Ali Adler produced by 20th Century Fox Television and to the action drama Revolution from J.J. Abrams and Eric Kripke produced by Warner Bros. Television and Bad Robot Productions. These projects join NBC’s recently approved Matthew Perry helmed series Go On.

A month after its series premiere, Lifetime renewed its scripted series The Client List for a second season. Starring and executive produced by Jennifer Love Hewitt, the next season of The Client List will have 15 episodes debuting in 2013. The Client List debuted on Lifetime April 8 at an average of 2.8 million total viewers, becoming the network’s most-watched series launch since Drop Dead Diva in 2009. The Client List is produced by Fedora Films and Jaffe/Braunstein in association with Sony Pictures Television. Season one of The Client List continues on Sundays at 10p.

Game show creator Bob Stewart died last Friday in Los Angeles at the age of 91. Mr. Stewart was the creator of several Mark Goodson game shows including The Price Is Right, To Tell the Truth and Password. He additionally served as producer and creator through his own company, Bob Stewart Productions of 15 network series including the game show franchise Pyramid which started with The $10,000 Pyramid in 1973. Mr. Stewart was inducted into the Academy Hall of Fame in 2009 and was interviewed and featured in the Game Shows episode of the 2008 PBS docu-series Pioneers of Television. Mr. Stewart is survived by his son Sande, who joined his father in his production company business, sons Barry and David; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Multiplatform premium entertainment service, EPIX picked up two films, Marvel Studio’s and Paramount Picture’s The Avengers and Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games and will be the first network to premiere both films.

The second season of FX’s anthology series American Horror Story from Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk has added James Cromwell (Babe) to its cast roster. American Horror Story’s next season will feature a new premise, location at an East Coast-based institution for the criminally-insane managed by Jessica Lange’s character and the plot may be set in a different era as well. Cromwell will play Dr. Arden, the foil to Lange’s character who is the person in charge at the facility.

CMT has made a development deal with former WWE wrestler Steve Austin (aka Stone Cold). The deal has Austin hosting the new reality series Redneck Island where 12 rednecks are dropped in a tropical location where they will compete for $100,000. Redneck Island is set to premiere in June and will be paired with the second season of My Big Redneck Vacation. The deal involving Austin also includes his production company, Broken Skull Ranch Productions producing other new series for CMT. Redneck Island is produced by 51 Minds Entertainment.
