Katie Couric, currently a special correspondent for ABC News and host of her upcoming syndicated daytime talk show Katie, is set to host a weekly original digital video series titled Katie’s Take from ABC News and Yahoo! beginning May 1. Couric will delve into topics and issues that affect her viewers such as health, nutrition, parenting and wellness. Each episode will include interviews with top experts along with Couric’s own personal perspective.

A fourth season of Drop Dead Diva premieres on Lifetime with 13 new episodes starting June 3 at 9p. The one-hour comedic drama’s ensemble cast is headlined by Brooke Elliott and for the new season Kim Kardashian will begin her multi-episode run in the season opener playing relationship guru, Nikki LePree. The upcoming new season is currently in production in Atlanta and is produced by Sony Pictures Television.

Also on June 3, Animal Planet debuts a new season of Call of the Wildman at 10p. The new season has 16 new half-hour episodes featuring Kentuckian “Turtleman” as he rids homes and businesses of a variety of critters including muskrats, river otters, beavers, squirrels and even wild coyotes. Call of the Wildman is produced by Sharp Entertainment for Animal Planet.

The original Whale Wars series will open its fifth season on Animal Planet June 1 at 9p. Over eight new episodes and a one-hour recap special, the series will follow the Sea Shepherds’ annual whale defense campaign in the Southern Ocean. In this upcoming new season, the Sea Shepherds will face tougher challenges as the Japanese whalers are more aggressive and the crew is taking on more inexperienced rookies. The Lizard Trading Company produces Whale Wars as well as the new companion series, Whale Wars: Viking Shores which debuts on Animal Planet this Friday at 9p.

The daily talk show Bethenny starring reality star and entrepreneur Bethenny Frankel will begin a test run on June 11 on six Fox-owned TV stations. If the test is successful, the Fox stations will likely launch the new talk show in national syndication perhaps as early as this fall. The test run could last six weeks, though could be longer or shorter depending on the results. The Fox stations participating in the test run include WNYW/New York (11a); KTTV/Los Angeles (2p); WTXF/Philadelphia (11a); KDFW/Dallas (1p); KSAZ/Phoenix (11a); and KMSP/Minneapolis (10a). Bethenny will be based from the studios of Warner Bros. and Telepictures Productions in Burbank. Telepictures Productions is producing.
