Lifetime opens its docu-series Dance Moms: Miami on April 3 at 1030p following the 90-minute spring finale of the dance competition docu-soap Dance Moms. Starting April 10, Dance Moms: Miami will air in its regular time slot of 9p. The new series, produced by Collins Avenue, will go inside the Miami-based Stars Dance Studio following the school’s owners and dance instructors as well as the young dancers they teach in this world of competitive dance.

Also set in Miami, new original drama series, Magic City debuts exclusively on Starz April 6 at 10p. The period drama is set in Miami Beach, 1958 at the luxurious Miramar Playa Hotel owned by Ike Evans. The glamorous hotel is the place to be seen from the Kennedys, to the mob and more and is 90 miles away from the unrest happening in Havana, Cuba. Magic City stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Ike; Olga Kurylenko as Ike’s wife Vera; and Danny Huston as mob boss Ben “The Butcher” Diamond along with an ensemble cast. Magic City was created by writer/EP Mitch Glazer.

FOX is airing the drama The Finder’s first season finale episode this Thursday prior to giving the series a month-long hiatus. FOX will then move The Finder to Fridays beginning April 6 at 8p. Upcoming new reality series Hotel Hell starring chef Gordon Ramsay which was originally scheduled to bow April 6 will now premiere this summer.

Later this spring, USA Network debuts its new 12-episode series Common Law on May 11 at 10p following Fairly Legal which is back starting March 16 for its second season. USA had previously slated Common Law to open in January though in December announced it would move the premiere date to this summer. The one-hour Common Law stars Michael Ealy, Warren Kole, Jack McGee and Sonya Walger and will run through August 10. The series is from CBS Television Studios and Junction Entertainment.

Docu-sitcom Leave It To Niecy, starring actress/comedienne Niecy Nash opens on TLC March 25 at 10p. The eight episode half-hour series will combine storytelling aspects of the traditional sitcom genre combined with a non-scripted reality show following Nash in her personal life with husband Jay Tucker, her three kids and her opinionated mother. Leave It To Niecy is produced by Shed Media US for TLC. Last June, TLC aired the two-hour special Niecy Nash’s Wedding Bash which drew in close to 5 million viewers.

Many of the cast members of PBS’ Downton Abbey have been signed for a fourth and a fifth season, reports TVLine. Those who have apparently extended their contracts include Michelle Dockery (Lady Mary), Elizabeth McGovern (Cora), Hugh Bonneville (Robert), Joanne Froggatt (Anna) and Brendan Coyle (Bates). The cast member’s original contracts carried them through the third season which is currently in production. Downton Abbey has not been officially renewed beyond the third season which is set to debut in the US next January. The season two finale which aired in February attracted 5.4 million total viewers and tallied the best audience in three years for PBS.

Making a comeback to sitcom TV, Leah Remini (CBS’ The King of Queens, CBS’ The Talk) landed a role on ABC’s comedy White Van Man. The plot is about a guy (Kyle Bornheimer) who is forced to put his dreams on hold to run the family handyman business from his father Tony (J.K. Simmons). Remini will play Tony’s sister Terry who keeps the lead character in line when he tries to sneak out to go to work again. ABC Studios is producing.

Alex O’Loughlin is taking a leave of absence from production on CBS’ Hawaii Five-O. The actor’s representative made this statement: “Alex is taking a short break from Hawaii Five-0 to receive supervised treatment for prescription pain medication due to a recent shoulder injury.” CBS Television Studios also said in a release: “We respect and support Alex’s decision. Everyone at CBS Television Studios and Hawaii Five-O wishes him well and we look forward to his return.”
