ABC chose its late-night host Jimmy Kimmel as host for the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards which will be broadcast on the network September 23. This marks the first time Kimmel will host the Emmys though he is set to host the White House Correspondents Dinner next month and in the past hosted the American Music Awards and the ESPY Awards.

A second season of T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle was approved by VH1. The new season will premiere in fall 2012 and continues to follow Grammy Award-winning artist T.I. and his R&B wife Tiny as they support their children in their entertainment endeavors. The series is created and executive produced by 51 Minds’ Cris Abrego, Christian Sarabia, Rabih Gholam and Ben Samek (CAPI) as well as Category 5 Entertainment’s Brian Sher and Stella Bulochnikov.

Sunday’s fifth season opener of Mad Men on AMC with a two-hour premiere chalked up record ratings making it the most-watched episode ever for the series. From 9p to 11p, AMC attracted 3.5 million total viewers as well as 1.7 million among A25-54 and 1.6 million with A18-49. Mad Men airs Sundays at 10p on AMC.

This past weekend’s #1 movie at the Box Office, The Hunger Games was acquired by ABC Family in a network television premiere rights deal with Lionsgate. The deal also includes the network television debut rights to Catching Fire, the second movie in The Hunger Games franchise. The agreement gives ABC Family the rights to be the basic cable home for the first two movies of The Hunger Games franchise and the movies will air on ABC Family in 2014.
