Musical drama series Smash received a second season renewal from NBC. The series, produced by Universal Television in association with DreamWorks Television and Madwoman in the Attic, is NBC’s top-rated drama among A18-49 and total viewers. Smash, airing on Mondays at 10p, is up 160% in the demo versus the network’s season average in the time period and with total viewers Smash has increased the time period by 100% (7.7 million vs. 3.9 million).

FOX is pulling its first season sitcom I Hate My Teenage Daughter altogether from its schedule. FOX originally took the comedy off its April schedule though was still airing a couple episodes on Tuesdays. In its place on Tuesdays starting next week, FOX will air repeats of Raising Hope.

Romance and match-making take to the seas in Lifetime’s new docu-dating series Love for Sail debuting April 10 at 10p. The one-hour show follows single women as they board a Norwegian Cruise Line ship looking for love while cruising in the tropics. Lifetime ordered eight episodes of the series produced by Studio Lambert.

This July, GMC TV, offering inspirational music and family entertainment is moving its headquarters to new offices in College Park, a suburb of Atlanta. The new facility will offer more production and studio space for the network as well as operational headquarters for ASPIRE, the new cable network being launched by Magic Johnson Enterprises. GMC’s new company base will be located near the George International Convention Center and Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

Season three of PBS’ Downton Abbey chose Ed Speleers to play a footman, reports THR. Season three has also added Cara Theobold and Lucille Sharp to play new maids as well as Matt Milne as another footman. Previously-announced veteran actress/entertainer Shirley MacLaine will also appear in the upcoming new season.

FOX’s serial killer drama cast Maggie Grace (Lost) for a recurring role as a young doctor who is the only surviving victim of the serial killer Joe Carroll (James Purefoy). The killer is being tracked by an FBI investigator played by Kevin Bacon. Warner Bros. Television is producing.
