Former Brothers & Sisters cast member Dave Annable is staying put with ABC and was tapped for the drama thriller pilot 666 Park Avenue. Annable will play one half of a young couple that becomes managers of an historic apartment building in New York City that is filled with supernatural occurrences. Recently-announced Terry O’Quinn (Lost) is also involved as a co-star in the pilot.

Emilie de Ravin (Lost) landed a co-starring role on ABC’s soap drama pilot Americana. The drama is about famous fashion designer Robert Soulter (Anthony LaPaglia) whose family and fashion empire is turned on end by the arrival of a new young visionary. De Ravin will portray Francesca, Robert’s fashion savvy and powerful daughter. Currently, de Ravin has a recurring role on ABC’s Once Upon a Time playing Belle.

The untitled cowboy drama for CBS has cast Dennis Quaid and Michael Chiklis. The actors will co-star in the 1960s-era drama based on the true story of Ralph Lamb, a rodeo cowboy-turned-longtime sheriff in Las Vegas. Quaid will play Lamb and Chiklis will play Johnny Savino, a Chicago mob fixer whose entrepreneurial vision for transforming Las Vegas collides with Sheriff Lamb’s law and order rule. Both Quaid and Chiklis will also serve as co-EPs on the project. This project represents the first time Quaid will star in a series for television.

Martin Lawrence makes a comeback to television via a CBS untitled multi-camera comedy pilot where he will star as a 46-year old widowed father of two, who decides to enter the police academy to become a cop. Sunday’s season two finale of MASTERPIECE CLASSIC’s Downton Abbey on PBS attracted an average audience of 5.4 million viewers, not factoring in replays, DVRs or online streaming. Downton Abbey’s finale delivered a 3.5 HH overnight rating based on Nielsen Fast National data which is the highest for a PBS program since the premiere of Ken Burn’s National Parks series in September 2009. Throughout its second season, Downton Abbey delivered an audience that was more than double the PBS primetime average and its average rating was 25% higher than the first season based on metered market averages. Downton Abbey is a co-production of Carnival/Masterpiece.

During Wednesday’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on NBC, news broke of National Geographic Channel’s plans to renew series Rocket City Rednecks for a second season. CMT renewed two original unscripted series airing on Saturdays: Bayou Billionaires and My Big Redneck Vacation. Former Friday Night Lights cast member Aimee Teegarden will star in The CW’s drama pilot The Selection. Teegarden will play a poor young woman who is selected by lottery to participate in a competition to become the next queen of a war-ravaged nation on the brink of change. TLC is exploring the world of tight wads by ordering the new series Extreme Cheapskates. Over eight half-hour episodes, the series will look at individuals who look for creative ways to cut costs. Casting is underway and the network will likely premiere the series this summer. Last December 28, TLC aired a one-hour special, Extreme Cheapskates which drew in 1.6 million viewers.
