Midseason drama series The Firm has been moved by NBC from Thursdays to Saturdays at 9p beginning February 11. In its place on Thursdays at 10p, NBC will premiere new drama Awake beginning March 1 and until then the network will air repeats of Grimm. In its most recent airing, The Firm delivered a 0.8 rating with A18-49 as well as 3 million total viewers.

FOX is adjusting its schedule by creating a two-hour comedy block on Tuesdays starting March 6 by moving I Hate My Teenage Daughter to the night. On Tuesdays, Raising Hope will open primetime at 8p followed by I Hate My Teenage Daughter at 830p, New Girl airs at 9p and the second season premiere of resurrected comedy Breaking In will return and air at 930p. Glee will rejoin FOX’s schedule with new episodes on April 10.

A sixth season of Sons of Anarchy has been approved by FX and apparently the network is considering adding a seventh season. Series producers 20th Century Fox Television and FX Productions finalized a new three-year deal with Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter to remain in charge of the series and to allow him to develop shows for other networks.

ABC gave a pilot order for a multi-camera called The Smart One executive produced by Ellen DeGeneres and starring Portia De Rossi. Don Todd is the writer on the project about a brilliant and successful woman who reluctantly goes to work for her less smart though more popular sister. De Rossi will play one of the sisters. Warner Bros. Television and A Very Good Production are producing with Lauren Corrao also serving as executive producer.

The drama pilot Last Resort created by Shawn Ryan for ABC added Andre Braugher in the lead role. Braugher will play the captain of the nuclear submarine in the project. For the ABC comedy pilot titled How to Live with Your Parents for the Rest of Your Life, former Scrubs star Sarah Chalke was cast to play Polly, a recently divorced single mom who moves in with her eccentric parents.

Charlie Sheen’s upcoming comedy Anger Management on FX has cast Shawnee Smith to play Sheen’s ex-wife Jennifer. Selma Blair was also cast to play Sheen’s therapist, Kate. Production on the sitcom begins in March and FX has plans to premiere Anger Management this June.

Two culinary series received renewal news yesterday: FOX approved a fifth season of Kitchen Nightmares featuring chef Gordon Ramsay as he travels around the US reviving struggling restaurants. FOX ordered 16 episodes from ITV Studios America and Optomen in association with A. Smith & Co. Productions. Arthur Smith, Kent Weed, Patricia Llewellyn and Ramsay serve as executive producers. Bravo ordered a tenth season of Top Chef. The city location for the tenth season has not been revealed.

Also early in March, TLC will bow new series My Crazy Obsession on March 7 at 10p. The series is an extension of its successful special, My Collection Obsession which aired last fall and pulled in 1.4 million total viewers. The eight-episode series will take viewers inside people’s homes to see unbelievable, one-of-a-kind treasures and collections such as a Cabbage Patch Kids doll collection totaling more than 5,000 or a woman who is obsessed with the color pink. My Crazy Obsession is produced for TLC by Sharp Entertainment LLC.

Monday’s season four premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race at 9p on Logo delivered an average 0.6 rating with A18-49. The 90-minute opening episode also brought in 481,000 total viewers. Following at 1030p, Logo opened the season premiere of the companion series, Untucked: RuPaul’s Drag Race which had its most-watched debut ever at an average of 254,000 viewers.

A sampling of PBS’ February programming slate includes: Independent Lens offering three new shows with the first starting tonight with Daisy Bates: The First Lady of Little Rock at 10p; then Black Power Mixtape 1967-1975 on February 9 at 10p; and More Than a Month on February 16 at 10p. Underground Railroad: The William Still Story will air February 6 at 10p, exploring one man’s mission to help slaves escape to freedom and the documentary film Slavery By Another Name is scheduled for February 13 at 9p. PBS’ programs Frontline, American Masters and Great Performances all will have Black History Month special programs in February.

A second season of Flip Men was approved by Spike TV. The network picked up to 12 episodes of the original non-scripted series featuring Utah-based Doug Clark and Mike Baird as they buy and flip foreclosed property. Season six of Army Wives returns to Lifetime’s lineup starting March 4 at 9p. Creator and longtime host of Soul Train, Don Cornelius, died yesterday morning at the age of 75. Mr. Cornelius launched Soul Train in Chicago in 1970. Soul Train and Mr. Cornelius is credited with introducing and showcasing some of the greatest African American artists such as Gladys Knight & The Pips, The Jackson 5, Al Green, The Commodores, Kool and the Gang, En Vogue and many more. Soul Train went on to become one of the longest-running syndicated shows in television. Mr. Cornelius exited Soul Train as host in 1993.
