For its upcoming second season this fall, FOX has overhauled The X Factor, purging three out of five of its on-air talent. Judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger are now off the show as well as host Steve Jones. These moves come after weeks of speculation on whether or not Scherzinger and Jones will continue on the show and Abdul’s future with the show has also been talked about. Simon Cowell and record producer L.A. Reid will both continue as judges. In the UK, The X Factor pulls in high ratings and in its first season on FOX delivered an estimated 12.6 million viewers and a 4.4 rating among A18-49 for its Wednesday episodes.

Soon after its premiere launch, HBO has renewed its horseracing drama Luck for a second season with ten episodes. Production on the new season will resume at the end of February for a January 2013 premiere. For its opening episode, Luck drew 3.3 million total viewers across all airings. Luck stars Dustin Hoffman and Nick Nolte.

Actor Bronson Pinchot, best known for his TV role as Balki in the sitcom Perfect Strangers and movie roles in Beverly Hills Cop and Risky Business will star in the new DIY Network series The Bronson Pinchot Project debuting February 11 at 1030p. In the half-hour series, Pinchot shares with viewers his passion for restoring older historic homes in the small town of Harford, PA.

Starting today, Bounce TV rolls out its first-ever Black History Month programming tribute called Our History with several documentaries covering topics such as slavery, the Civil Rights movement and the rise of Hip Hop. The documentaries will air each Wednesday night in February. Bounce TV will further air vignettes this month showcasing stars and directors including Kevin Hart, Gabrielle Union, Regina King, Tim Story and Will Packer as they reflect on their heritage and culture.

Oscar-winner Susan Sarandon is joining the third season of Showtime’s The Big C for multiple episodes, per THR. Sarandon will play Joy, a cancer survivor who uses her unique experience to inspire and help other cancer patients. Season three of The Big C premieres April 8 on Showtime.

Daytime soap General Hospital on ABC brings back actor/rock star Rick Springfield to reprise his role as Dr. Noah Drake for a handful of episodes, reports EW. Springfield will be on set starting this month. Also later this month, Finola Hughes will make her first appearance reprising her longtime role as Anna Devane Scorpio Lavery Scorpio.
