On Sunday, executive producer and judge Nigel Lythgoe of FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance tweeted saying the network cancelled the dancing competition’s results show. FOX renewed So You Think You Can Dance last October for a ninth season and Lythgoe indicated in his tweet he would have to change the format of the show based on this decision by FOX. The series’ season eight finale posted a 9% decrease compared to the 2010 season ender.

Original series Hell on Wheels received a second season renewal from AMC. The series currently ranks as the second highest-rated series for the network sporting an average of 3.2 million viewers and 1.5 million among A25-54. The season one finale is scheduled for January 15 at 10p. Hell on Wheels is executive produced by Endemol USA with Entertainment One (eOne) serving as the studio.

MTV is moving its annual Upfront presentation to this spring instead of mid-winter. The network will host its Upfront event on April 26 though no details about the presentation or where it will be held were revealed. For the last two years, MTV has been one of the first cable networks to present its programming lineup, with last year’s event held on February 2 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan featuring the stars of Jersey Shore, Justin Bieber and more.

The New Year’s Day NFL game between the Dallas Cowboys and the NY Giants gave NBC its highest overnight ratings in the network’s six-year history of Sunday Night Football, according to overnight data from Nielsen. The game posted a 17.1 overnight rating and a 27 share, marking a +36% increase over last year’s Week 17 game.
