ABC has removed freshman comedy Man Up! from its schedule, replacing it with encores of Tim Allen’s new comedy Last Man Standing through the end of the year in the Tuesday 830p time slot. Production on the ten episodes of Man Up! have concluded and the remaining unaired episodes will likely run next summer. The most recent episode of Man Up! delivered a 1.6 A18-49 rating and 4.8 million total viewers. When the new midseason schedule begins in the New Year, ABC has placed new comedy Work It in Man Up!’s slot starting January 3.

Eight one-hour episodes of Ink Master, the first-ever tattoo competition reality series opens January 17 at 10p on Spike TV. Ten top tattoo artists from different parts of the country will battle for a $100,000 cash prize, an editorial feature in the magazine Inked and the reigning title of Ink Master. The series is produced for Spike by Original Media.

New dramedy Common Law will not premiere on USA Network January 26 as planned. Instead, the cable network will move the series to launch this summer when the network believes it will attract a larger audience. Common Law, starring Michael Ealy, Warren Kole, Jack McGee and Sonya Walger focuses on two cops who are having a rough time with their professional seven-year partnership and are forced into therapy by their captain. Production on the twelve episodes is currently underway in New Orleans. CBS Television Studios and Junction Entertainment are producing.

NBC’s upcoming midseason musical drama Smash has landed Uma Thurman for a five-episode run. In Smash, Thurman will play a big movie star who can be difficult to handle and has a desire to star in Marilyn, the show’s musical within the musical. NBC will debut Smash on February 6.

Upcoming miniseries Coma, set to premiere Memorial Day 2012 and air over two nights on A&E Network has signed Richard Dreyfuss, Ellen Burstyn, James Woods, Geena Davis, Lauren Ambrose and Steven Pasquale to star in the four-hour production. Coma is a medical thriller from Ridley and Tony Scott and a contemporary adaptation of the novel by Robin Cook and the film by Michael Crichton. Production is presently happening in Atlanta. Ridley and Tony Scott, David W. Zucker, Martin Erlichmann and Mikael Salomon are all listed as executive producers with John J. McLaughlin penning the script. Sony Pictures Television is producing for A&E.

A script deal involving an untitled cop drama from Queen Latifah was approved by CBS, reports THR. The plot involves a street-smart Philadelphia woman who realizes she should become a homicide detective after a defining event happens. Charles Murray will write the script and be an executive producer along with Latifah. CBS Studios and Latifah’s Flavor Unit Entertainment are producing. Flavor Unit’s Shakim Compere and Shelby Stone are also executive producing with production company Rocklin/Fraust’s Nicole Rocklin, Blye Fraust and Renata Adamidov.
