In the carriage dispute between Fox Networks Group and DirecTV, yesterday DirecTV sent a letter to the FCC saying the News Corp.-owned Fox Networks Group has been “abusing the public trust” with advertising they contend is misleading. DirecTV also said in its letter sent to FCC Bureau Chief Bill Lake that Fox was negotiating in bad faith. The current Fox Cable Networks deal expires November 1 though the retransmission deal for Fox-owned stations does not expire until the end of the year.

Making a comeback on television next summer, Charlie Sheen will star in the new sitcom, Anger Management acquired by FX that is loosely based on the 2003 hit comedy film of the same name starring Adam Sandler from Joe Roth’s Revolution Studios. FX ordered 10 episodes of Anger Management from Debmar-Mercury owned by Lionsgate. Production on the sitcom begins early next year. Bruce Helford is on board as writer, executive producer and showrunner. Anger Management will be produced by Lionsgate Television, headed by Television Group President Kevin Beggs and COO Sandra Sterm; Roth and Revolution Studios’ Vince Totino; Sheen manager Mark Burg’s production company, Evolution Management; and Ramon Estevez and Estevez Sheen Productions. If Anger Management proves successful, FX will pick up 90 additional episodes under a similar syndication model Debmar-Mercury created for Tyler Perry’s sitcoms and others. Anger Management will air exclusively on FX until the off-network episodes begin airing in broadcast syndication in fall 2014.
