The producers of FOX’s The Simpsons, currently in its 23rd season, and the show’s voice actors are involved in a negotiations impasse concerning future episodes of the animated comedy beyond this present season. 20th Century Fox Television, the production company behind The Simpsons has asked the voice actors to take a 45% pay cut to renew their contracts for more seasons. FOX has not released a statement regarding the situation, though 20th Century Fox TV did make this statement: “23 seasons in, The Simpsons is as creatively vibrant as ever and beloved by millions around the world. We believe this brilliant series can and should continue, but we cannot produce future seasons under its current financial model. We are hopeful that we can reach an agreement with the voice cast that allows The Simpsons to go on entertaining audiences with original episodes for many years to come.”
