TV One’s first original scripted series, Love That Girl! is welcomed back for a new season starting October 17 at 8p with double back-to-back half-hour episodes. Tatyana Ali stars as Tyana Jones, a young divorcee who goes home to Southern California for a second chance in life and a career in her father Delroy Jones’ (Phil Morris) real estate business. Bentley Kyle Evans (Martin, The Jamie Foxx Show) created the series and Martin Lawrence is the co-executive producer. The new 13-episode season of Love That Girl! will feature guest appearances by many celebrities including Laila Ali, Kim Coles, Omar Gooding, Iona Morris among many others.

Dating competition series Sweet Home Alabama is back for a sophomore season starting October 20 at 9p on CMT. The new season, with eight one-hour episodes, watches as 22 young women (11 from cities across the country and 11 from various country locales) vie for the affections of Tribble Reese, a handsome former Clemson quarterback and entrepreneur from Birmingham who ended up being the runner-up in the series’ first season. Sweet Home Alabama is produced by Glassman Media.

In time for Halloween, BIO Channel returns two original series as My Ghost Story premieres on October 15 at 10p and Celebrity Ghost Stories with its fourth season debuts on October 29 at 9p. My Ghost Story features real people who have captured their paranormal experiences on camera. Celebrity Ghost Stories relates first-person narratives by famous actors, musicians and personalities who are convinced they have experienced a supernatural phenomenon. The new fourth season highlights ghost stories from Alan Thicke, Laila Ali, Kevin Pollack, Fairuza Balk as well as Phyllis Diller, Mickey Rooney, Dyan Cannon, Kim Coles, Rita Coolidge, Susan Olsen among others.

Also on Sunday, Showtime said new series Homeland posted the network’s highest-rated drama premiere in eight years with 1.08 million viewers at 10p, outperforming other recent Showtime drama premieres of The Borgias at 1.06 million viewers and Shameless with 982,000 viewers. Dexter’s sixth season debut at 9p also marked the series’ highest-rated premiere ever with 2.2 million total viewers, a +24% increase over the fifth season launch at 1.77 million viewers.

ABC tapped Ty Pennington, the host of its Extreme Makeover: Home Edition series to join upcoming new daily ABC Daytime show The Revolution. Pennington joins Tim Gunn and fitness and nutrition expert Harley Pasternak on the daily health and lifestyle show. The Revolution, produced by 3Ball Productions is set to premiere in January.

Music and family entertainment channel, GMC is beginning production this month on a new GMC World Premiere Series, She’s Still Not Our Sister which is scheduled to premiere in December. The limited-run series stars Jackee Harry and is based on the GMC World Premiere Gospel Play, She’s Not Our Sister which aired in June and was the highest-rated GMC World Premiere Gospel Play airing on the network to date with more than one million viewers on its inaugural night. With four original episodes, the series will pick up where the play left off as more drama surrounds the three sisters who had discovered their late father had an illegitimate fourth daughter.

Veria Living signed yogic master, international author and former supermodel Yogi Cameron to a new primetime reality series, A Guru for You (wt) which is likely to launch in Spring 2012. Cameron is well-known as a world expert of Ayurveda and yoga in addition to being the favorite yoga teacher of Ellen DeGeneres and a frequent guest on her weekday US talk show as well as appearances on The Dr. Oz Show and NBC’s Today. Cameron is in pre-production on the show with 13 episodes.
