A third season of The Big C was approved by Showtime with ten new episodes commencing production early next year. The comedy series starring Laura Linney is currently in its second season which concludes September 26. Season three will open in second quarter 2012. In each episode, unsuspecting students discover their substitute teacher really is not a substitute and instead of normal class they will be competing in a series of trivia and interactive challenges for the chance to win a cash prize of $5,000.
