Docu-series Confronting goes inside the prison mediation process when the one-hour program premieres on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network September 17 at 10p. Episodes of Confronting follows the emotional story beginning with a crime followed by the victim and offender as they embark on a transformative journey together coming to terms with the tragic event that binds them. The offender learns of the pain and suffering caused by their wrong-doing while the victim has a chance to express their feelings and must decide if forgiveness is a possibility. Confronting is produced for OWN by RelativityREAL.

A new primetime competition series Sweet Genius on Food Network spotlights master pastry chef Ron Ben-Israel. Beginning September 22 at 10p, the eight-episode Sweet Genius follows four of America’s top pastry chefs as they compete each week in three different elimination challenges judged by Ben-Israel. The final chef remaining will win a $10,000 cash prize. Jane Street Entertainment produces the series.

Jimmy Kimmel’s real-life uncle, Frank Potenza known as “Uncle Frank” on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! died yesterday at the age of 77. Mr. Potenza was a former New York policeman, a Korean War veteran and security guard in Las Vegas. He joined his nephew’s show in 2003 as a security guard and on-air contributor and even re-located to Los Angeles to appear regularly on the show.

As of this Thursday, Cablevision is adding BBC America, TV One and REELZCHANNEL to its lineup on iO TV as part of the iO Package. The trio of channels is now offered in some markets as of yesterday and will be available across Cablevision’s entire service by Thursday.

NBC picked up a one-hour wrestling drama from Jerry Bruckheimer and former pro wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock. Johnson is on board as an executive producer. NBC gave the period project about the world of wrestling in the 1980s a put pilot commitment. Jerry Bruckheimer Television in association with Warner Bros. Television is producing. Brent Fletcher and Seamus Kevin Fahey are co-executive producers and writers and KristieAnne Reed is also a co-executive producer. Bruckheimer TV’s Jonathan Littman is also on board as an executive producer.

A single-camera comedy script from Sony Pictures Television and Adam Sandler’s company Happy Madison was nabbed by ABC, reports Variety. The comedy plot is set in 2016 about a guy who thinks his life is perfect until he’s struck by lightning which takes him back to the year 2011. Daniel Sweren-Becker is penning the script and he will be executive producer along with Doug Robinson and Steve Carr.

Rev. Al Sharpton lands an official role as host of a nightly talk forum on MSNBC. For several weeks, Sharpton has been guest hosting during the network’s Live at 6 p.m. show and yesterday the network said he will take over that time period as host permanently. Sharpton’s program is titled PoliticsNation and it debuts next Monday.

Isaiah Mustafa was cast in a recurring role on ABC’s upcoming remake of Charlie’s Angels. Mustafa will play Det. Ray Goodson, a handsome cop who used to date and be engaged to Angel Kate (Annie Ilonzeh). Charlie’s Angels debuts September 22 at 8p on ABC. Mustafa will make his first appearance on the series in about the fourth episode.

E! Entertainment signed TV personality Ross Mathews to a comprehensive agreement involving the development of a new pilot and additionally expands his on-air duties for the network. Mathews will continue to be a regular guest on E!’s Chelsea Lately and he will also be a guest correspondent for the network’s franchises Live from the Red Carpet and E! News. Mathews pilot deal with the network also involves Borderline Amazing Productions.
