Making it official, FOX said all three American Idol judges Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson will be back on the show for its 11th season. Ryan Seacrest will also return as host when the new season of American Idol premieres January 22 at 10p directly following the NFC Championship Game on FOX.

Next Monday morning, Spanish-language cable network Galavision launches the news program Matutino Express. The new three-hour weekday show airs at 10a hosted by Esteban Arce along with Adriana Riveramelo and Jose Ramon San Cristobal. Matutino Express will serve up current news headlines, political and economic reports, sports, entertainment, music and weather stories as well as commentary and humor.

Production started this week on TNT’s upcoming original series Perception helmed by Eric McCormack (Will & Grace). The plot centers on an eccentric neuroscientist and professor, Dr. Daniel Pierce (McCormack) who helps the government solve complicated criminal cases. Rachael Leigh Cook, Arjay Smith and Kelly Rowan also star in the series with ten total episodes. LeVar Burton additionally will play a recurring role as Paul Haley, a dean at the university. Perception, produced by ABC Studios, makes its debut in summer 2012.

The character Carrie Bradshaw may be making a comeback on The CW in a prequel series version of Sex and the City. The Carrie Diaries would depict Carrie Bradshaw as a teen based on the recent book by Candice Bushnell about Carrie’s high school years. No deals have been forged and the talks are in the early stages.

CBS’ The Mentalist cast Michael Rady (Greek, the updated Melrose Place) as Luther Wainwright, the CBI’s new special agent in charge of Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) and his team. The Mentalist premieres on CBS September 22 at 10p.

Cooking Channel is casting for a new pilot, My Grandmother’s Ravioli hosted by Mo Rocca and looking for grandmothers or grandfathers to teach Mo their favorite recipe and share stories and life advice. The show producers are looking for grandmothers and grandfathers who: preferably live in the New York Tri State area; all ethnicities will be considered; 50-100 years old; people with big personalities who are great home cooks with a treasured family recipe (professional cooks may apply); real characters that are fun, outgoing, fiery, even curmudgeonly people who are willing to teach Mo Rocca how to prepare a delicious dish and to share family stories and grandparent advice. Interested applicants can also have other fun hobbies or pursuits. Accents and English as a second language is not a problem. If you are submitting yourself, email a recent photo and list your specialties and how often you cook for yourself or for your family and friends. Include details on your cooking background, your favorite dish and why you would like to teach Mo your recipe. Also include any funny stories about yourself.
