AMC is opting to cap its drama series Breaking Bad with a final season comprised of 16 episodes. Production on the final season’s episodes begins early next year though the premiere date has not been set yet by AMC. Starring Bryan Cranston, Breaking Bad is produced by High Bridge Productions, Inc. and Gran Via Productions in association with Sony Pictures Television for AMC. Breaking Bad is currently in the midst of its fourth season which debuted July 18.

REELZCHANNEL will broadcast the 2011 Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards on September 17 at 8p, according to the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. The actual awards ceremony will be taped September 10. This year marks the 17th year Spike Jones, Jr. will produce the awards event.

Half-hour docu-series Cuff’d premieres on MTV August 29 at 11p. The series gives an up-close perspective of what happens during the ride to the police precinct after a youth offender is arrested. Each episode follows up to six different young perpetrators from different parts of the country and during the intense ride to the police station, much is revealed about the young adult, what led them to this critical point and the advice given by the police officers involved. Jim Henson’s puppets will be featured in a new scripted television project titled History Of. The Henson puppets will reenact pop culture events in a humorous and irreverent way and the show will further include surprise celebrity cameo appearances. History Of is a production of Bunim/Murray Productions, a Banijay Group company teaming with Henson Alternative, The Jim Henson Company’s brand for content created exclusively for adult audiences. Chris Regan, previously a writer on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart will serve as showrunner and executive producer. Lisa Henson, CEO of The Jim Henson Company and Jonathan Murray, Chairman of Bunim/Murray Productions are executive producers on the project in addition to Bunim/Murray’s Gil Goldschein. Dave Stone and Rachel Speiser, both of Bunim/Murray are on board as co-executive producers.
