Netflix is continuing its licensing partnership with NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution involving cable and broadcast TV shows, though excluding current season programming. The renewed deal also includes movies available for streaming online. TV shows from NBCU’s cable networks available through Netflix’s Watch Instantly plan include previous season episodes of Warehouse 13, Psych, Keeping Up with the Kardashians and Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane. Broadcast shows from NBCU include prior-season eps of The Office, 30 Rock, Parenthood, Law & Order: SVU and The Event. Future seasons of NBC’s shows will be available via Netflix on a one-season delay basis.

A third season is in store for ABC’s Rookie Blue. The network picked up a third season with 13 episodes produced by Entertainment One (eOne) and Thump Inc. Rookie Blue airs on ABC in the US, Global Television in Canada and internationally on Universal Networks International’s pay-TV channels.

A second season renewal was granted by MTV for its series Teen Wolf. The new season consists of a dozen one-hour episodes slated to return in 2012. Currently in its Monday at 10p time slot, almost 1.7 million total viewers watch Teen Wolf each week.

TV One has added three more original episodes to its one-hour series Unsung, the biography show that spotlights the lives and careers of successful artists or groups that have not received significant recognition or whose stories are not told. Unsung airson Mondays at 10p this summer and is produced by A. Smith & Co. Productions.

Ted Danson is joining the cast of CBS’ CSI: Crime Scene Investigation as the new CSI Supervisor for the overnight shift after leading the crime lab in Portland. His character makes his first appearance on the season premiere on September 21 at 10p. Danson also will continue to be a series regular on the HBO series Bored to Death.

Eva Longoria and George Lopez will share the stage as co-hosts of the National Council of La Raza (NCLR)’s ALMA Awards which honors the achievements of Latinos in entertainment encompassing film, TV and music. The ALMA Awards telecast will air September 16 on NBC.

It was announced yesterday, Oprah Winfrey is expanding her Chairman role with OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network to become the permanent CEO and CCO beginning this fall. Harpo Studios’ Erik Logan and Sheri Salata, presently serving as Presidents will become Presidents of OWN, effective immediately. Erik and Sheri will work closely with Peter Liguori, Discovery Communications’ COO who is the interim CEO. Furthermore, all future television productions at Harpo Studios will exclusively be directed to OWN. Erik and Sheri will continue in their leadership roles for OWN produced programming at Harpo Productions Inc. Additionally, Lisa Erspamer will continue at OWN as EVP/Production and Development.
