TV One and Essence continue their partnership for a third year where TV One is the official broadcast sponsor of the 2011 Essence Music Festival, the country’s largest annual gathering celebrating African-American music and culture. The deal allows TV One to produce TV One Night Only: Live from the Essence Music Festival, a two-hour music highlights show slated to air this September.

Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire) landed a role in Aaron Sorkin’s drama pilot, More As This Story Develops being readied for HBO. Patel will be a series regular playing a staffer working at the cable news channel. To date, the pilot stars Jeff Daniels as host of a cable news show in addition to Emily Mortimer, Alison Pill, Sam Waterston and Olivia Munn.

Miniseries World Without End, the sequel to Pillars of the Earth and based on the novel by Ken Follett, revealed its cast. The eight-hour medieval period drama is headlined by Cynthia Nixon, Miranda Richardson and Peter Firth along with Ben Chaplin, Charlotte Riley, Rupert Evans, Megan Follows, Nora von Waldstaetten, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Tom Weston-Jones and Sarah Gadon. Tandem Communications and Take 5 Productions are producing in co-production with Galafilm and in association with Ridley and Tony Scott’s Scott Free Films. Production will be done on location in Hungary, Slovakia and Austria with Howard Ellis’ Mid Atlantic Films.
