Laurence Fishburne departs CBS’ CSI after being on the drama for two and a half seasons. He joined the series halfway in the ninth season replacing William Petersen. Fishburne says he wants to focus more on his film career. CBS Television Studios produces CSI which begins its 12th season in the fall.

Soap star Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo exits ABC’s General Hospital with today being her last day on set. Giovinazzo created the role of Brenda in 1992 and was off the show for eight years, returning last June.

Television personality Leeza Gibbons tapped to co-host America Now a daily news program premiering September 12 as a daily first-run series. Gibbons and Bill Rancic helm the half-hour news show featuring short segments focused on such lifestyle topics as health and beauty, finance, family and home. The show is from Raycom Media where it already runs as a weekend series on Raycom’s stations. America Now is produced by ITV Studios America.
