FOX’s upcoming singing competition series The X Factor officially tapped British pop star Cheryl Cole as one of the judges, joining Antonio “L.A.” Reid and Simon Cowell. Cole has served as judge on the UK edition of The X Factor for three years. Cole, Reid, Cowell and a fourth judge to be announced will travel to audition cities searching for the next worldwide superstar or music group. Auditions continue in Dallas on May 26. The X Factor is produced by Syco Television and FremantleMedia North America.

Longtime CEO of MTV Networks, Judy McGrath announced she is resigning her position. The company said yesterday a replacement for her position would not be named though those executives reporting directly to Judy – Van Toffler, Doug Herzog and Cyma Zarghami – will now report directly to Viacom CEO Philippe Dauman.
