Cable news organizations had to scurry to cover Sunday night’s breaking news involving the death of Osama bin Laden. From 10p to 3a, CNN led the coverage with 4.1 million total viewers and 2.1 million among A25-54; FOX News Channel was next with 2.8 million total viewers and nearly 1.3 million A25-54 viewers; while MSNBC was third with almost 1.6 million total viewers and 800,000 with A25-54. President Obama presented a live announcement of the news during the 11p hour and CNN tallied 7.8 million total viewers/3.9 million A25-54; FOX News Channel with 4.8 million total viewers/2.1 million A25-54; and MSNBC with 2.3 million total viewers/1.1 million A25-54.

Judge Judy Sheindlin made a new multi-year pact with CBS Television Distribution to remain the star of her daytime syndicated court show, Judge Judy through 2015. Judge Judy is currently in its 15th season and averages 10 million viewers. The half-hour show is distributed by CBS Television Distribution.

Apparently, Ryan Seacrest and his company, Ryan Seacrest Productions is in the early development phase on a new music competition reality show with NBC, cites EW. The proposed show will not launch until at least 2012 though no concrete details are known other than it will feature self-contained episodes and will be an artist competition show and not a competition between contestants.
