Prince William and Catherine Middleton’s Royal Wedding in London last Friday was covered live by a slew of networks here in the US. Nielsen reports eleven networks including ABC, CBS, NBC, Telemundo, Univision, BBC America, CNN, E!, FOX News Channel, MSNBC and TLC carried live coverage from approximately 6a to 715a and the sum of the average audience was 22.8 million viewers. In comparison, though, the coverage of Princess Diana’s funeral in September 1997 was watched by 33.2 million in the US. Taking a snapshot of the morning news programs from 7-9a, NBC’s Today did best, according to fast national results from Nielsen, with more than 9.6 million total viewers; ABC’s Good Morning America tallied 8.7 million total viewers; while CBS’ The Early Show recorded 3.9 million total viewers. There was much additional buzz about the royal nuptials online and E! Online said it broke its own single day record for most page views last Friday with 23.6 million. E! Online offered full coverage and live streaming of the Royal Wedding. The site also attracted the second highest number of visitors at 1.5 million and visits at 1.9 million.

After much delay, NBC will debut its anthology dramedy series, Love Bites on June 2 at 10p. The series, starring Becki Newton will air this summer in the Thursday at 10p time period.

A new reality competition show searching for the next talent to star on FOX’s Glee series launches on Oxygen when The Glee Project premieres June 12 at 9p. The Glee Project is from Glee’s creator Ryan Murphy and executive producer Dante Di Loreto and follows 12 talented performers as they compete to win a seven-episode guest starring role on Glee. The 10-episode competition series is produced by Ryan Murphy Television and Embassy Row.

Three celebrity singers and a music producer are joining the celebrity cast of NBC’s The Voice. NBC is adding singers Reba, Monica and Sia Furler as well as music producer Adam Blackstone as advisers working as assistants alongside the established celebrity coaches Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton.
