Katie Couric’s future role on television is still not official though CBS Television Distribution announced it is the top company in the running to distribute Couric’s proposed daytime talk show beginning fall 2012.  Couric’s contract as the anchor of CBS Evening News expires June 4 and before she begins a talk show hosting gig next year, Couric will maintain some on-air news presence by contributing to CBS’ 60 Minutes, according to various reports.  As part of Couric’s contract with CBS, there is a clause attached giving CBS the option to match any offers she may receive before June 4.  To date, NBC has indicated interest in distributing Couric’s daytime talk show; Warner Bros. has also pitched to be the project distributor. Couric is further involved in developing a multi-platform production company with former NBC Universal CEO Jeff Zucker, who will serve as CEO and the talk show’s executive producer.
