Making it official, Netflix is licensing the exclusive rights to House of Cards, a political drama starring Kevin Spacey. House of Cards will debut online via Netflix to its 20 million members later in 2012. Netflix commissioned 26 one-hour episodes, equal to two 13-episode seasons, produced by MRC. David Fincher is directing the pilot and executive producing the series. House of Cards is based on a book and a previous BBC miniseries that starred the late Sir Ian Richardson. The US version centers on an ambitious politician (Spacey) who has the presidency in his sights.

The Singing Bee is back this spring with a third season on CMT starting April 8 at 8p. Melissa Peterman, star of CMT’s Working Class series hosts the competition series. During this new season, CMT presents two themed episodes, “Boy Band” featuring former boy band members Bobby Brown, Joey Fatone, Drew Lachey and Wanya Morris and a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders episode highlighting CMT’s series, Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team. The Gurin Company and JUMA Entertainment produce The Singing Bee.

Following reports late last week, FOX’s upcoming The X Factor did hire Antonio “L.A.” Reid, former chairman of Island Def Jam Music Group as a judge joining Simon Cowell. Reid resigned from Island Def Jam just last week. A host and more judges for The X Factor will still be announced.
