Britain’s April 29 Royal Wedding broadcasting live and commercial free in the US via BBC America.  The network will carry a direct simulcast of BBC One, the BBC’s top channel in the UK.  Huw Edwards, an anchor for BBC One will lead the commentary for the telecast.  This uninterrupted coverage of the royal nuptials comes after the network plans a week’s worth of royal programming including the original production, Royally Mad presented by Cat Deeley, documentaries centered on the Royals and three BBC World News America specials focused on the modern monarchy. BBC America also announced the addition of a new documentary, Prince William in Africa airing on April 24 at 2p. Furthermore, BBC Worldwide Channels announced BBC One’s feed of the wedding will be streamed live to the BBC Entertainment channels around the world in Asia, India, Latin America, Europe and the Middle East as well as broadcast on BBC Knowledge in Africa.

Beginning April 20, The CW shifts America’s Next Top Model back an hour to air at 9p on Wednesdays for the rest of its 16th cycle.  This change occurs after the season finale of Shedding for the Wedding airs on April 13 at 9p.  Prior to each Wednesday’s new Top Model episodes, the previous week’s Top Model episode will air on Wednesdays at 8p.  The season finale of Top Model is scheduled for May 18.

Carson Daly takes on double-duty for NBC as the network renewed his half-hour late-night show, Last Call With Carson Daly through the 2011-2012 season produced by Universal Media Studios.  Daly will also host NBC’s forthcoming singing competition series, The Voice opening April 26.  Daly has headlined Last Call since the show’s inception in 2002.

A new half-hour health, wellness and lifestyle program for families, Dr. Steve will debut on PIX11 (WPIX-TV) in New York next month.  The show’s host, Dr. Steven Salvatore, a board certified Emergency Medicine physician who has been the health expert on PIX11 Morning News since 2005, will highlight multiple topics such as fitness and nutrition, children’s health, how to cook a nutritious meal and more. Dr. Steve will air on Sundays at 11a starting April 17. WPIX-TV is owned by Tribune Broadcasting.

Simon Cowell’s upcoming singing competition series, The X Factor on FOX may have hired the first of four judges.  Record executive and music producer, Antonio “L.A.” Reid, Chairman of Island Def Jam is close to finalizing a deal with the show, though neither FOX nor The X Factor is confirming the deal.  The X Factor launches this fall and auditions will begin March 27 in Los Angeles.
