Sunday’s Super Bowl XLV on FOX ranks as the most-watched television program ever in the US with an average of 111 million total viewers. FOX also became the first network to ever go beyond 100 million total viewers for a night in primetime. This year’s Super Bowl tops the previous most-watched television program records in US history with the 2010 Super Bowl XLIV seen by 106.5 million total viewers and the series finale of M*A*S*H which held the record at 106 million total viewers from 1983 to 2010. Furthermore, FOX’s special Glee episode following the post-game averaged 26.8 million total viewers and 11.1 million among A18-49, making it the highest-rated scripted episode on television in three years with the A18-49 demo. Nielsen also reported Super Bowl XLV was viewed in 53.3 million households and delivered a preliminary 46.0 US HH rating.
