OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network presents three new original series for 2011:

  • The Judds – One-hour series follows the award-winning country music duo Naomi and Wynonna Judd as they prep for their first tour together in ten years. The intimate series, produced by Gay Rosenthal Productions, Inc. will also reveal the complicated mother/daughter relationship the two continue to share.
  • Carson-Nation – Fashion and design guru Carson Kressley journeys to small towns around the country, giving makeovers to people one person at a time. The one-hour series is executive produced by Tom Forman’s Relativity REAL LLC.
  • Ryan and Tatum: The O’Neals – One-hour series centers on the father and daughter as they work to rebuild their familial relationship after being estranged for more than 25 years. Endemol USA Inc. produces the series.

In addition, OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network unveiled its inaugural weekend schedule when the network signs on January 1, 2011. The opening weekend offers a smorgasbord of programming available on the network including many previews of new series that will air throughout the weekend. TLC is whipping up a new series featuring Cake Boss’ Buddy Valastro as he searches for the next rising baker in the new eight-week elimination competition series Cake Boss: Next Great Baker. The series premieres December 6 at 9p and follows ten skilled pastry chefs as they are put through the baking paces each week. The winner receives $50,000 and the opportunity to work with Valastro at Carlo’s Bakery. High Noon Entertainment produces Next Great Baker for TLC.

Saturday’s Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear broadcast live on Comedy Central from 12p to 3p drew in 2.0 million total viewers along with 1.1 million among A18-49 as well as posted an average 1.0 rating with A18-49. Additionally, Comedy Central said there were 570,000 live video streams of the event via comedycentral.com or through viewers’ iPhone, iPad or Android devices. Event organizers also estimate more than 250,000 people attended the Rally held in Washington, D.C.
