Oprah will  have the cast from “The Sound Of Music” on her show today.

Syfy decided to end its freshman series Caprica, the prequel to Battlestar Galactica with the network citing, “Unfortunately, despite its obvious quality, Caprica has not been able to build the audience necessary to justify a second season.” As of November 2, Syfy will take Caprica off its schedule and the remaining five episodes of the first season will air sometime during first quarter 2011.

HBO renewed two of its comedies airing on Sunday nights, the private eye series Bored to Death starring Jason Schwartzman, Zach Galifianakis and Ted Danson and Eastbound & Down helmed by Danny McBride for a third season.

MTV is adding to its Thursday night schedule starting November 4 by bringing back a new season of Pranked at 10p, a show featuring film clips of pranks caught on video as well as the new series MegaDrive at 1030p. MegaDrive watches as comedian and crash test dummy Johnny Pemberton tries out the toughest extreme vehicles in America on land and air, all the while panicking the unsuspecting owners of the vehicles. Pranked is executive produced by Cheri Brownlee and John Johnston of Cheri Sundae Productions and MegaDrive is executive produced by Rob Anderson and Allison Corn and Antony Tackaberry of Lion Television.

In other MTV news, the network is premiering a new one-hour reality show, I Used to Be Fat on December 29 as part of MTV’s Ten Spot. Over ten episodes, the series will follow teens during the summer following high school as they lose weight before starting their freshman year in college. Each episode follows one teen as they work with nutritionists, trainers and doctors to make their goals a reality. 3 Ball Productions, the company behind NBC’s The Biggest Loser, E!’s What’s Eating You and the future ABC show Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition is producing I Used to Be Fat.

On the heels of her stint on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, Audrina Patridge will soon get her own reality series on VH1. The former star of MTV’s The Hills made a deal with VH1 to produce and star in a reality series about her life and family in Hollywood as she tries for an acting career. Mark Burnett Productions is producing and production will commence next year.
