E! tapped journalist/author Laura Ling to host the network’s documentary series E! Investigates. Ling will take an in-depth journalistic approach as she examines important and controversial topics, stories or trends in each one-hour episode. In the first episode premiering December 8 at 10p, Ling will investigate the rise of teen suicides in the US and in the December 15 episode she will look at the secret realities of military wives. Previously, Ling was VP of Current TV’s journalism department and created that network’s weekly investigative docu-series Vanguard. While at Current and during a reporting stint focused on the trafficking of North Korean women in March 2009, Ling and her colleague Euna Lee were detained by North Korean soldiers along the Chinese-North Korean border. Ling and Lee were arrested and held captive in North Korea for 140 days before being granted a special pardon to return to the US.

CASTING CALL
(Repeated from yesterday with corrected email address)
World of Wonder Productions is casting for a new docu-series for a major cable network and is looking for a modern, alternative family. The family could be a real-life “Will & Grace” with a baby; a transgender with twins; a woman who is carrying her sister’s baby; and or a mother carrying her daughter’s child. The family composition may be considered odd but the love is real in your uniquely blended family. If this describes your situation or someone you know, casting would love to hear from you. Send an email to weingradcasting@gmail.com and include a description of your family composition and what makes it work. Include names, where you live, how you live and tell us why your story is unique. Also include recent photos and a phone number where you can be reached.
