Cast members from TLC’s newest reality television series Sister Wives are currently involved in a bigamy investigation led by police Lt. Darren Paul in Lehi, Utah. Lt. Paul says the investigation was prompted by the reality TV show that depicts the lifestyle of advertising salesman Kody Brown and his four wives, 13 children and three stepchildren. Brown is legally married only to one of his wives, though refers to the other three women as his spouses. TLC premiered the series this past Sunday attracting 2.3 million total viewers. Bigamy is a third-degree felony in Utah and punishable by a prison sentence of up to five years. The Utah law states a person can be found guilty of bigamy through cohabitation and not only through legal marriage contracts.
