Film critic Roger Ebert returns to PBS with his weekly film review show, Roger Ebert Presents At the Movies. Ebert, who is not able to speak due to his battle with cancer, is co-producing the half-hour show with his wife Chaz Ebert and, using a computer voice, will appear on each episode in segments titled Roger’s Office. The updated program will be co-hosted by Christy Lemire, the film critic for the Associated Press and Elvis Mitchell of NPR. The duo will use the copyrighted “thumbs up/thumbs down” format created by Ebert and Gene Siskel. The series will premiere in January 2011 and launch nationally on PBS stations with WTTW/Chicago as the presenting station. WTTW was also the original presenting station when Ebert’s show began in 1975 known then as Opening Soon at a Theater Near You.
