CNN/US ushers in a new weeknight primetime program this fall co-hosted by journalist Kathleen Parker and former New York governor Eliot Spitzer. The program, airing at 8p, is described as a lively, nightly roundtable talk show and the pair, along with guests and regular contributors will offer opinions and discussions on topical news stories and events of the day. As the progressive voice of the two, Spitzer has been called the “Sheriff of Wall Street” and was a renowned prosecutor and former Governor of New York. Parker is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist who describes herself as a “rational” conservative and her current opinion column appears twice weekly in more than 400 newspapers nationwide.

The Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences met Tuesday and discussed the possibility of moving up the Oscars telecast to January instead of February. The 83rd annual Academy Awards will stick with its scheduled air date of February 27, 2011 airing on ABC. If a January date is settled on it could happen as early as 2012. It has been suggested moving the Oscars telecast to January could help with the event’s television ratings. Since 2004, the Oscars has aired in February after many years being scheduled in late March/early April, though this year’s telecast aired on March 7 to avoid the Winter Olympics.
