HBO renewed its vampire drama True Blood for a fourth season comprised of 12 episodes. Production on the fourth season begins early next year in Los Angeles with a planned premiere scheduled for summer 2011. True Blood is created by Alan Ball and based on the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris.

Ratings in the US for the 2010 FIFA World Cup are soaring at a 16-year high. To date, through the first 14 rounds of the World Cup, ESPN and ABC generated an average audience of 3.35 million viewers. Univision has averaged 2.24 million viewers through its first 17 broadcasts.

CASTING CALL
Audition dates are set for the 10th anniversary of FOX’s American Idol beginning July 17 in Nashville. Other dates and cities for American Idol auditions are July 21 in Milwaukee; July 26 in New Orleans; August 3 in East Rutherford, NJ; August 11 in Austin; and August 19 in San Francisco. In addition, American Idol is expanding the age range of participants to 15 to 28 years old for men and women eligible to work in the US.
