Production on NBC’s new drama series Parenthood is postponed for eight weeks due to star Maura Tierney’s illness. NBC has now slated the premiere of Parenthood for midseason rather than the previously scheduled fall date of September 23. In exchange, NBC pushed up the premiere date of new medical drama Mercy for this fall with production starting early to prepare for a September debut. Regarding Tierney’s condition, NBC would not release a definite prognosis. Parenthood is produced by Universal Media Studios and Imagine TV and also stars Peter Krause, Erika Christensen, Dax Shepard, Bonnie Bedelia and Craig T. Nelson.
